If you are gay and live in Iran where it is forbidden to be gay what do you do

If you are gay and live in Iran where it is forbidden to be gay what do you do?
A friend lives in Iran and I don't know what to tell him. He is 21. And it is basicly impossible to leave Iran.

Move to another country where you can be excepted. I know it's probably gonna be hard leaving your family and friends but thats why we have phones and computers. And ya I know I'm a muslim to even though I'm not gay so I suggest you might as well leave to find your lover and happily be gay.

I feel so sorry for him... I would just do my best to move out of there. How old is he by the way? If he's an adult I'm sure he can find some way to travel somewhere else. If he's young... I don't know, best keep it secret.

Hide, lie, marry, raise children, live a lie, and cheat secretly until the government wakes up. Just like people here who had to do the same when it was illegal to marry across races. Just like we had to do before sodomy laws were overturned in 2003. Like so many have to do everywhere.... One thing that might be constructive, is to get him out of the country, but not to the USA. We don't offer asylum to gays who can and are often killed for being who they are at home. More safe places are in Western Europe. Sweden may give him asylum, Norway, Iceland, Denmark, most of central Europe, South America is decent even... The US is sadly behind the times, and is simply cruel to return a gay to a country where he can be killed right off the plane.

careful there! religion is in question here. there are always so even in his country and is forbidden! if he's smart he will find his ways. sorry he have to earn his keep in his society.
5 :
I would do whatever I could to help him escape that world.

i have a close gay friend from Iran too. he is 19,and he has realy hard time there too. but he told me it is not impossible to have a relationship there. he is already dating! he told me he find another gay people in Yahoo GLBT chat rooms. he knows it is risky to do this kind of stuff, but he told me he had no other choices but taking risk. tell him he is not alone, and if he tries he will find someone. love you and wish you the best;-)

First of all, make sure he doesn't tell ANYONE about his sexuality, or it could mean the death penalty. He really needs to get out of there. You say it's basically impossible, but he really needs to find a way. Maybe he can make his way to the neighboring countries of Armenia or Azerbaijan, where homosexuality is perfectly legal. He's not safe there! Tell him that, please!

How come it's easier for an unskilled person from Iran to live in the EU than a skilled American

How come it's easier for an unskilled person from Iran to live in the EU than a skilled American?
I don't understand, in Europe we're having wave after wave of Middle Eastern/North African immigrants who live off the welfare system, but for an American Architect they'd have to go on a waiting list, interviewed multiple times, pay a fee and might not be able to live in the EU after years of waiting. Get EU citizenship then... Swedish, Italian, German etc. are all EU Citizens. I'm Icelandic so I'm not part of the EU so sorry if I made some errors. If someone overstayed their tourist visa, doesn't that make them an illegal immigrant? Does anyone else think this is unfair that skilled workers from rich countries have a harder time moving to other rich countries, than unskilled people from the third world?

The EU is not a country.

I guess the American can't apply for asylum or at least claim it. Maybe it would just be a better idea to overstay a tourist visa, I don't know. I was told that it was a very difficult system as far as immigration goes, unless you are from the third world

This is a remains from the decades in which there was a high demand for unskilled workers for the coal mines or other lowly paid jobs. Today Europe is much more in need of skilled workers, but systems and policies only change very slowly. Remember this is a continent of 400 million and also an elephant turns slower than a small bird.

If muslims want to live in islam so much why don't they go live in Iran

If muslims want to live in islam so much why don't they go live in Iran?
I think you make a mistake thinking roman catholicism is anything like islamization.

Agreed.
2 :
because they have been told this is a land where you can worship any religion you want. as long as its a registered religion with tax exempt status david koresh learned that too late. yes you will ban sharia law yet install your own warped version of Leviticus law.
3 :
Ever smelled Iran?
4 :
They want you to live in Islam, too. It isn't enough that they live how they want. Their agenda requires that you submit.
5 :
It would be like saying "send all Roman Catholics to Italy, or better yet Vatican City".
6 :
If you want to be a Christian why don't you move to Bethlehem?
7 :
muslims are free to live any where they like
8 :
Wait I know this, it's because we have a little thing called freedom of religion in this country! I know many many Muslims, not a single one has tried to convert me.
9 :
I wish they would. We need to stop all immigration from muslim countries until they learn to curb to urge to strap on a bomb-belt or fly airplanes into things. I don't care about how many "good" muslims there supposedly are, let them pay the price for their bad apples!
10 :
Caz Iran is not a muslim ruled country! It's just a name man! nothing is based on Islam in Iran's government! absolutely nothing.
